3 Killed, 13 Injured in Lagos Tanker Explosion

The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu says that three unidentified persons were killed, 13 persons were injured in Ikeja gas explosion.

A statement issued by Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu said the incident happened on Thursday night, following a tanker explosion at Ogun State OPIC Plaza along Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja.

Dr Oke-Osanyintolu noted that LASEMA responders was conducting ongoing post disaster assessment First responders (LRU FIRE) have returned to the scene to avert any secondary explosion.

LASEMA Boss urged members of the public in Lagos state to take alternative routes as much as possible.

Also the Acting Coordinator, South-West Zonal Office, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, said the explosion was alleged to have been caused by leakage while the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker affected a plaza housing some organizations.

Mr Farinloye said those affected were taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
