At least 17 states across Nigeria have confirmed their participation in the 2025 Olympic Day celebration, scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
Tony Nnezianya, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), announced this in a statement on Thursday.
According to the NOC statement, this year’s celebration will be officially flagged off in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, by the President of the Committee, Engr Habu Gumel.
The participating states are Edo, Plateau, Ondo, Taraba, Enugu, Delta, Kwara, FCT, Anambra, Bayelsa, Bauchi, Kogi, Gombe, Osun, Imo, and Lagos, which also hosts the NOC Secretariat.
Events lined up for the day include various demonstration sports and recreational activities tailored towards individual and group interests, as part of efforts to promote Olympic values and encourage mass participation in sports nationwide.
