Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested five suspects linked to armed robbery and kidnapping in Doma Local Government Area of the state.
Similarly, police operatives in Keana Local Government Area arrested a herder for allegedly opening fire on the locals who confronted him for grazing on farmland at Gidan Zaki Hassan, Kuduku.
This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s public relations officer, Superintendent of Police, SP Rahman Nansel to newsmen in Lafia.
The statement explains that operatives of Doma Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer raided a notorious criminal hideout at Yelwa Ediya which led to the arrest of the suspects.
It stresses that the suspects confessed to the kidnapping of a serving councillor during which they stole two mobile phones and as well mounted a roadblock along the Doma–Yelwa road where they snatched a Bajaj motorcycle valued at ₦970,000.
The statement added that the police personnel recovered the sum of one hundred thousand naira, a motorcycle and one AK-47 magazine loaded with six live rounds of ammunition during the operations in Doma and Keana Local Government Areas.
