Plateau State Government has donated the sum of ten million naira to youths in the state as a seed capital towards empowerment. Governor Caleb Mutfwang made this known at an event to mark the International Youth Day.
The Governor, represented by Musa Ashoms, the Commissioner of the Ministry for Youths and Sports Development, praised Plateau youths for their resilience and hard work, emphasizing the need to harness their potential for national development and empowerment.
The Commissioner thanked the youths for their unwavering support in ensuring peace returned to the state.
In a talk on Youth and National Development, a Human Development Consultant, Mr. Luka Panpe, highlighted some critical areas of improvement to include talent hunting, reform of the civil service to involve youths in the policy framework, among others.
A guest speaker at the event, Mr. Ishaya Levi, a business and Artificial Intelligence (AI) expert, emphasized the importance of leveraging AI to stay competitive with global counterparts in adapting to evolving trends.
Two youths, Dashwar Katsum from Mangu and Esther Binkap from Langtang, shared their excitement during the celebration, stating that they intend to focus on personal development to play their part in improving the Plateau.
The theme for this year’s International Youth Day is Local Youth Action for the SDGs and Beyond.
The event drew youths from the seventeen local government areas of the state.
