Three outstanding science students have been offered scholarships to study in any University of their choice anywhere in the world by the Benue State Government for their exceptional performance at the national competitions.
The gesture was declared by Governor Hyacinth Alia at an event to mark this year’s international Youth Day.
Doose Naswem, emerged overall best in Nigeria at the National Science Quiz Competition, winning Further Mathematics, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Biochemistry and scored three hundred and sixty nine in JAMB as well as six A-One and eight A-One in internal and external WAEC results respectively.

Rita Tertsea, alongside her teammate, Solomon Ndiir designed and built a solar-powered motorcycle with reverse gear using scrap materials, an innovation that won them second place nationally in a project exhibition.
Governor Hyacinth Alia described the students as shining examples of Benue’s intellectual potential stressing that they have been granted a request to return to Abeokuta to defend their trophy.
Chairman of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria, STAN, Benue State Branch, Dr. Timothy Akpoghol who presented the students to the Governor expressed confidence that Benue would retain its national title in Abeokuta next week.#
