Women in labour movement have been charged to remain steadfast in promoting gender equality and raising their voices against injustice in the workplace.
President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC Comrade Joe Ajaero, made the call during the NLC Women Quadrennial Delegate Conference held in Jos.
The NLC President Comrade Ajaero who was represented by the National Women Leader of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics, Comrade Ruth Bawa emphasized the importance of the women’s wing within the NLC national body and advocated for its replication across all states

He noted that the establishment of the women’s wing aims to create opportunities for women, particularly in areas where they have been historically underrepresented.
Declaring the conference open, the Plateau State Head of Service, Mr. Sam Godongs, represented by the permanent secretary Mr. Kenneth Parlong commended the Nigeria Labour Congress for its contributions to the effective functioning of the civil service
In his remarks, the NLC Plateau State Chairman, Comrade Eugene Manji, reaffirmed the union’s commitment to supporting women in the workforce.
He encouraged them to strive for independence and self-reliance, assuring that the union will continue to provide the necessary support for their growth and development.
The newly re-elected chairperson, Comrade Esther Mangai, said the women’s wing would set a bold agenda for fair treatment of women in the workplace.
Others who clinched other positions are; Naomi Kambut, Secretary, Veronica Bot, vice chairman and Eunice Yamtu Asst Secretary.
Others are Eunice Goar ex.officio and Roseline Kim Ex.Officio 2.
