The Federal Government has announced the construction of six new cancer treatment centres, with three already fully operational in Katsina, Enugu, and Benin.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, MOHAMMED IDRIS, disclosed this during a sensitisation and midterm report event held at the Federal Secretariat in Jos, Plateau State.
The briefing showcased the significant accomplishments of President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the last two years.
Idris, represented by Ayedime Aileku, the Deputy Director of Special Duties at the National Orientation Agency, Plateau State Directorate, announced that the government has subsidized dialysis treatment in 10 Federal Medical Centres, covering 80% of the cost for patients.
According to him, the facilities offering this support include Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital in Bauchi and the Federal Medical Centre in Abuja, among others.
The Minister also outlined other major achievements of President BOLA TINUBU in the past two years:
- Over 440 ongoing road projects nationwide
- An additional 1,500 megawatts to the national power grid
- Reduction in fuel imports
- Increase in foreign reserves and $50 billion in foreign direct investment in 2024
- Distribution of ₦75 billion to 600,000 students via NELFUND for tuition and welfare
He urged Nigerians to remain patient and hopeful, assuring them that the President is committed to improving the quality of life for all citizens.
Earlier, Head of the Federal Information Centre in Plateau State, BONKAT BITRUS, welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of the briefing in celebrating national progress and reaffirming collective dedication to a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria.
Stakeholders at the event called on the government to intensify efforts in the security, agriculture, and healthcare sectors, which they believe will deliver the most impact and relief to citizens.
