Fresh Israeli airstrikes on a hospital in southern Gaza have killed more than a dozen people, including four journalists from international news outlets.
Officials at the Nasser Medical Complex said 14 people were confirmed dead in Monday morning’s attack, though the BBC later reported the toll had risen to 15.
Among the journalists killed were Mohammad Salama, a cameraman with Al Jazeera; Hussam Al-Masri, a Reuters contractor; Mariam Abu Dagga, a journalist who worked with the Associated Press and other outlets; and Moath Abu Taha, a freelance reporter.
A Reuters live video feed from the hospital, operated by Masri, suddenly went dark when the strike hit. Another Reuters photographer, Hatem Khaled, was wounded in the attack, according to hospital officials.
The bombing has intensified concerns over the safety of journalists in Gaza, where press freedom groups say media workers are facing unprecedented risks since the war began.
Gaza’s civil defence service also confirmed that one of its crew members died in the latest attack.
Meanwhile, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers are meeting in Jeddah to discuss Israel’s continued aggression, the deepening humanitarian crisis, and plans to occupy Gaza. The council is expected to announce a joint action plan after the emergency session.
