The result placed the Prosperity Boys in 2nd position behind El Kanemi Warriors who edged Bendel Insurance 2-1 in Maiduguri.
In other results, top-flight returnees and NNL champions, Warri Wolves picked the 2nd away win after a 0-1 win over Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko stadium, Katsina.
Similarly, Linus Dadong converted from the penalty spot as Wikki Tourists of Bauchi make a return to the premiership with a 1-0 victory over Plateau United at the Tafawa Balewa stadium as Kwara United and Ijkorodu City FC played a goalless draw in Ilorin.
In the southeast derby, first timers Kun Khalifa FC of Owerri held Rangers International to a barren draw at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu; Abia Warriors defeated Kano Pillars 1-0 courtesy of a 35th minute effort from Paul Samson at the Umuahia Township stadium.
Elsewhere, newcomers Barau FC of Kano forced Enyimba FC to a goalless draw as the People’s Elephants finished the game with a man down after forward Mojeeb Odufeso picked the first red card of the season.
Meanwhile, the season opener on Friday saw Cup holders, Remo Stars of Ikenne play a 1-all draw against Rivers United at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta.
Matchday 1 will conclude on Wednesday, August 27, with Niger Tornadoes scheduled to take on Nasarawa United in Minna.
