Nasarawa State police command has arrested nine suspects for various crimes.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed disclosed at a media briefing in Lafia.
CP Shettima Mohammed explained that seven suspects were arrested for being in possession of prohibited firearms while two others were arrested for impersonation and being in possession of stolen vehicle.
He noted that thirty-eightassorted firearms and one vehicle were recovered from the suspects in different locations across the state. On live ammunition, the State Police boss said four thousand, two hundred and sixty-four live ammunition were recovered.
According to him, among the suspects were gun runners, manufacturers and distributors.
“On 31st August 2025 at about 0300hrs, operatives attached to ‘E’ Division Shabu arrested two notorious gun manufacturers — James Philip and Alpha Philip, both males of Faferuwa area, Lafia LGA. Further investigation led to the arrest of four major buyers and distributors of the fabricated arms, namely: Usman Abubakar, male, of Shendam Road, Lafia. Yakubu Danladi, male, of Mararaba Akunza, Lafia. Usman Kasimu alias Bobo, male, of Bukan Sidi, Lafia. Abdullahi Adamu, male, also of Bukan Sidi, Lafia.”
He commended the gallantry of officers and men of the Command for their tireless efforts in the fight against crime and also appreciated the continued support of members of the public who provided timely and credible intelligence that aids security operations.
CP Shetima Mohammedreassured residents that the command under his watch will not relent in its determination to rid the state of criminal elements.
