As part of efforts to curb insecurity and restore peace in Kogi West following the recent attack by armed bandits, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has paid a visit to Isanlu-Esa in Yagba West Local Government Area.
Governor Ododo, who was accompanied by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Milan Dantawaye, heads of other security agencies, and some members of his cabinet, commended the joint security team for their dedication and resilience in tackling insecurity in Isanlu-Esa and neighboring communities.
He expressed deep appreciation to the security operatives for their sacrifices, particularly the soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty, assuring that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.
The governor pledged that the state government would support the families of the fallen officers and ensure they do not bear the burden alone.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, Governor Ododo promised to provide all necessary logistics and support to enable the security agencies completely flush out criminal elements from the area.
He also cautioned traditional rulers against indiscriminate sale of land to strangers who disguise themselves to exploit local resources and later perpetrate crimes.
Similarly, he urged youths in the area to desist from aiding or supplying food to criminals in their hideouts.
Governor Ododo commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for strengthening border security and reinforcing security measures across identified flashpoints in the country.
In his remarks, the Commander of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kashim Sidi, lauded the synergy between the state government and security agencies, assuring that concerted efforts would continue until lasting peace is restored.
The Traditional Ruler of Isanlu-Esa, Chief Theophilus Olufemi, expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for the visit and appealed for sustained security presence in the community until normalcy is fully achieved.
