The sum of Fifty thousand naira each has been donated to five hundred women in Plateau State to flag off the Women Economic Empowerment Programme of the Renewed Hope Initiative RHI in conjunction with the Tony Elumelu Foundation.
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, while flagging off the initiative,said the empowerment programme was designed to support the entrepreneurial spirit of women and small-scale businesses across the country.
The Women Economic Empowerment Programme of the RHI in partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation seeks to support over eighteen thousand women entrepreneurs nationwide.
The wife of the president, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, said the initiative aimed to strengthen and recapitalize existing businesses owned by women toward attaining better support of their families.
Represented by the wife of the Plateau State Governor Mrs. Helen Mutfwang , Senator Oluremi maintained that empowering a woman translates to empowering a nation thus all hands must be on deck to further the course.

She appreciated the Tony Elumelu Foundation for its ₦1 billion donation to the RHI, stressing that it would go a long way in achieving the objectives of the initiative.
Earlier, in a welcome address, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Plateau State, Mrs. Caroline Dafur expressed appreciation to the First Lady and urged the beneficiaries to utilize the grant judiciously for the purpose it was intended.
Some of the beneficiaries, Tabitha yelji and Sarah Ali, applauded the administration’s relentless efforts in championing women initiatives and stressed that the capital injected in the businesses would significantly boost their ventures.
The beneficiaries were all presented with the cash donation after presenting either their voter cards or National Identification Number cards for proper verification.
