The need for Government to urgently amend the anti kidnapping and land grabbing laws to ensure prosecution of culprits in checking insecurity in Plateau State has been advocated.
The Gbong Gwom Jos and chairman Plateau state council of chiefs and Emirs Da Gyang Buba made the appeal while delivering a keynote address at a colloquium to mark the Plateau state NUJ press week.
The colloquium had as theme, Plateau: What Next after the Crossroads.
The Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Gyang Buba, represented by the Gwom Rwei Heipang, Da Taddy Jot who lamented that insecurity in plateau state has persisted for over 24 years, called for urgent steps to re-write the narrative.

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, represented by the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mrs Joyce Ramnap, described the NUJ as a partner in progress and called for sustained efforts in projecting the state in positive light.
In a remark, President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Al Hassan Yahaya, represented by vice president zone D, momoh adeiza called for concerted effort in rebuilding trust and promoting dialogue towards entrenching Peace.

Earlier in an address, Plateau State Chairman of the NUJ, Mrs Ayuku Pwaspo said the theme was deliberately chosen to set agenda for collective scrutiny and critical thinking on ways tackle the security challenges.

In their goodwill messages, the NUJ patron, and Emir of Wase Mohammed Sambo the second and Chairman of the occasion, and Special Adviser workers welfare and Corporate Affairs to Plateau State Governor, Titus Alams who described the topic as timely, called for synergy between all arms of Government to restore sanity in the society.

Highlights of the event was a panel discussion and award presentation to five outstanding personalities for their contribution to the union.
