The new Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has identified inter-agency collaboration as a key strategy for effective crime prevention and control.
Speaking in Lokoja shortly after assuming office as the 40th Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Kankarofi emphasized that one of his top priorities will be to strengthen cooperation among security agencies, enhance intelligence gathering, and ensure active involvement of all stakeholders in the collective fight against crime.
He assured residents that under his leadership,the state would remain safe while major highways will be adequately secured, particularly as the yuletide season approaches.
According to him, community policing would be central to addressing the security needs of the people, stating that Governor Usman Ododo has pledged full support to the command to ensure maximum success in its operations.
The Police Commissioner warned criminal elements to steer clear of the state, stressing that the command would apply maximum force against banditry, kidnapping, and all forms of violent crimes.
He further urged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities, noting that collective vigilance was vital to sustaining peace and safety across the state.
CP Kankarofi also reaffirmed his commitment to enforcing the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, towards building a safer and crime-free Nigeria.
