Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, has presented a proposed budget of ₦820.49 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.
The budget themed “Budget of Shared Prosperity: Driving Sustainable Growth for All.” comprises a Recurrent Expenditure of over ₦367 billion and an Estimated Capital Expenditure of more than ₦453 billion.
Presenting the draft budget at the Assembly complex in Lokoja, Governor Ododo described it as a people-oriented financial roadmap designed to promote inclusive growth, economic diversification, and shared prosperity.

He noted that the fiscal plan reflects a balanced and robust strategy that prioritizes improved revenue generation, tighter expenditure control, collaborative investment approaches, and a strong focus on capital development.
The Governor urged lawmakers to approve the ₦820.49 billion draft budget, emphasizing its role in strengthening the state’s economic trajectory.

Governor Ododo expressed gratitude to the Speaker of the House, Aliyu Umar Yusuf, and other members of the Assembly for their cooperation, diligence, and steadfast commitment to the state’s progress.

He also appreciated the people of the state for their resilience and support amid current economic difficulties, assuring them that his administration remains committed to building a strong, inclusive, and productive economy.
In his remarks, Speaker Aliyu Umar Yusuf commended the governor for his sustained efforts in enhancing security, expanding infrastructure, and prioritizing human capital development across the state.
He reaffirmed the 8th assembly’s determination to maintain a harmonious working relationship with the executive arm in order to uphold good governance, strengthen institutions, and deepen democratic dividends for the people.
