The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on the Federal Government and relevant stakeholders to urgently address the growing insecurity across the country.
Kogi State Chairperson of the NLC, Comrade Gabriel Amari, made the call in Lokoja during a peaceful protest organized by the union as part of a nationwide action against insecurity.
He expressed concern over the worsening security situation, noting that it has continued to negatively affect the livelihoods of Nigerians.
Comrade Amari urged the Federal Government to provide additional support to the Kogi State Government in tackling insecurity, stressing that the state’s strategic position as a gateway to the Southern and Eastern parts of the country makes enhanced security imperative.

He, however, commended the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo led administration for its efforts in improving security and encouraged the government to sustain the momentum.
Responding on behalf of the state government, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, who represented Governor Ododo, appealed for a special security intervention fund to enable the state effectively combat insecurity, considering its scale and complexity.

Governor Ododo also expressed appreciation for the support of organized labour and reassured workers and residents of the state of his administration’s continued commitment to peace, security, and worker’s welfare.
The protest featured a march through major streets of Lokoja, the state capital, and the presentation of a letter from the NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero.
