The newly elected President of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Kogi State Chapter, Doctor. Adefunmilola Onifade, has pledged to prioritize the health and wellbeing of women and children across the state during her tenure.
Doctor. Onifade made the pledge in her acceptance address in Lokoja following her election as President of the association for the 2025–2027 biennium.
She said maternal, neonatal, child, and adolescent health would remain a major focus of the association, describing the protection of women and children as both a professional duty and a moral obligation.
Doctor. Onifade noted that efforts would be intensified to promote safe motherhood, improve access to quality healthcare, and strengthen preventive health services across Kogi State.

She stressed the need for unity among medical women, stating that collective action was vital to achieving meaningful and sustainable results, while promising an inclusive administration where all members, regardless of cadre or years of experience, would feel valued and supported.
The MWAN President also disclosed plans to collaborate with women-focused organizations and female professionals in law, education, business, public service, and civil society to build a strong network of advocates for the health and dignity of women and children, expressing confidence that the association would record remarkable achievements during the 2025–2027 tenure.
