Fifty eight out of about three hundred children trafficked in May last year in Guma Local Government Area have been rescued by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons NAPTIP, Benue State Command.
The Head of operations NAPTIP, Makurdi Zonal Command, Yusuf Abdul who disclosed this said about three hundred cases of missing children between the ages of two to five were reported.
He maintained that following the report, the command swiftly trailed the suspects leading to rescue and arrest of the ring leader, popularly known as Achibong and four others.
Mr Abdul noted that the children trafficked were from Daudu, Yelewata and Ukpiam and taken to Abuja and parts of Nasarawa State.
He urged Parents and Guardians to beware of the deceitful tactics deployed by the criminals.
A Mother of triplets who were also recovered, Martina Tselem appreciated NAPTIP for bringing back her children and explained further that the suspects came through the Traditional leaders with a promise to train the children before taking them to an undisclosed location.
Mrs. Tselem pleaded with the Benue State Government to investigate activities of some individuals taking advantage of the security situation in the Area to cause harm to the vulnerable people.
