The Kogi State Government has approved the donation of over thirty million naira to corps members serving in the state as part of efforts to support their welfare and encourage quality service delivery.
A total of one thousand, three hundred and ninety-five corps members are to receive the sum of twenty thousand naira each.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo announced this during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch “A” Stream One corps members at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Asaya, Kabba.
Governor Ododo said the financial support was aimed at easing the welfare needs of the corps members and motivating them during their service year in the state.

He stated that his administration places high priority on youth development and would continue to implement programmes that promote their growth and well-being.
The Governor, who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Monday Anyebe, assured that the state government would reward corps members who distinguish themselves through hard work and dedication during their service year.
He further reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to the welfare of corps members, noting that they would continue to enjoy government support throughout their stay in the state.
Governor Ododo also advised the corps members to remain law-abiding and avoid any actions that could jeopardize their future during and after national service.
In his remarks, the Kogi State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Femi Osungbohun, urged the corps members to exhibit discipline, dedication and commitment in the discharge of their national assignment.
He also appealed to employers of labour in the state to treat corps members as their own children and provide adequate welfare to enable them contribute meaningfully to the development of Kogi State.
Mr. Osungbohun commended Governor Ododo for carrying corps members along in the scheme of governance, describing the gesture as commendable and worthy of praise.
Some of the corps members who spoke with journalists expressed appreciation to the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for what they described as his fatherly care and for giving them a sense of belonging in Kogi State.
