The Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Kogi State Chapter, has reaffirmed its commitment to policies and initiatives that promote the health and wellbeing of women, children, and families across the state.
In a statement to commemorate the International Women’s Day celebration, the President of MWAN in Kogi State, Doctor. Adefunmilola Onifade, highlighted the importance of empowering women through knowledge, mentorship, and service to society.
Doctor. Onifade noted that the association remains dedicated to advancing advocacy, health education, and community engagement aimed at improving healthcare outcomes for women and vulnerable groups.
She stressed that women play a critical role in strengthening families and communities, adding that when women contribute their compassion, expertise, and support to society, it results in healthier families, stronger communities, and a more sustainable future.
According to her, the theme of this year’s celebration underscores the need for women to continually support and uplift one another while remaining bold, compassionate, and purposeful in their pursuits.
The MWAN president further called on women across the state to continue to make meaningful contributions to society, noting that every act of giving has the potential to create a lasting and positive impact.
Doctor. Onifade also used the occasion to celebrate the resilience, strength, and invaluable contributions of women to national development.
International Women’s Day is celebrated annually around the world to recognize the achievements of women and to promote gender equality and empowerment.
