The Centre for humanitarian Dialogue marked a significant milestone in its peacebuilding efforts with the signing of a women-led peace agreement.
The agreement was reached in Jos and represents a comprehensive cross-border pact between Riyom local government area and Bassa local government area in Plateau State, as well as Kaura local government area and kauru local government area in Kaduna State.

The historic agreement marks the culmination of months of dialogue and negotiations driven by courageous women and communities committed to peace across state borders.
The process was facilitated by the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue, guided by its principles of humanity, impartiality, and independence.
In a welcome address, the Country Manager of the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue,Doc Chris Agoha represented by Doc Ahmed Yasmin described women as key drivers of successful peace processes. He noted that the agreement was shaped by the collective wisdom of diverse stakeholders.
He further stressed that the real test lies in the implementation phase transforming commitments into sustainable peace through continuous dialogue, trust-building, and shared accountability.
Former Minister of Water Resources, Dr Sarah Ochekpe called for collective action, emphasizing that all hands must be on deck to restore lasting peace in the communities and Nigeria at large.
Earlier The Director-General of the Plateau State Peace Building Agency, Dr Julie Sanda, represented by Wiamana Adanchi, reiterated the agency’s commitment to peacebuilding and emphasized the critical role of women, noting that sustainable peace can only be achieved with their active participation.
The high point of meeting was a reading ,adoption,and endorsement of the comprehensive peace agreement.
Also the Commissioner for women Affairs and Social Development Caroline Dafut urged all representatives to take home the message of peace into all crevices to eliminate peace disruption on the plateau.
An implementation committee was also inaugurated to ensure full execution of the agreement.
