The Minister of Education, Doctor. Tunji Alausa, has urged state governors to prioritise adequate funding of the education sector to improve quality and drive national development.
Doctor. Alausa made the call during the commissioning of newly completed GYB Model Secondary Schools in Nagazi, Adavi Local Government Area, and Okebukun in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

He noted that the Federal Ministry of Education is implementing key reforms aimed at strengthening technical education and promoting girl-child education nationwide.
The minister commended Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his commitment to education reform and prudent utilisation of resources to enhance critical sectors in the state.
In his remarks, Governor Ododo described the schools as a strategic investment in the future, explaining that the establishment of model schools across the three senatorial districts is designed to ensure equal access to quality education for both rural and urban communities.
He aligned the state’s education initiatives with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that ongoing federal reforms are crucial to advancing infrastructure development in education and other sectors.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones, emphasised the need for proper maintenance of the facilities, while an alumnus, Abdulrahaman Salawu, described the projects as a source of pride for the benefiting communities.
Governor Ododo also commissioned the GYB Model Secondary School in Okebukun, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.
