Federal Government has officially hand over 132 housing units under the National Housing Programme Estate in Ogbondoroko, Asa Local Government Area, to Kwara State Government following the completion of payment for the property.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, represented by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr Segun Ogunsola, received the documents and keys, marking the transfer of ownership from the Federal Government to the state.
Governor AbdulRazaq said that the estate was fully acquired by the state government as part of efforts to reduce housing deficit and provide sustainable accommodation for residents.
He explained that the estate comprises 132 housing units of varying categories, including one, two, and three-bedroom detached and semi-detached houses.
Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Alhaji Ahmed Dangiwa, said the Federal Government initiated the project to address the country’s housing shortage, commending the Kwara State Government for acquiring the units for public benefit.
Represented by a Director in the Ministry, Architect Musa Abdullahi, the Minister disclosed that plans are underway to commence a new Renewed Housing Estate project in Kwara State, adding that the contract has already been awarded.
Also speaking, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Shuaib Belgore, represented by his Special Assistant, Dr Toyin Nasamu, described the handover as a symbol of effective collaboration between the Federal and State Governments.
He praised Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration for its commitment to expanding housing access and driving infrastructural development across the state.
