The Kogi State Polytechnic has approved the withdrawal of two hundred and twenty-nine students over poor academic performance.
According to a statement issued in Lokoja by the Acting Coordinator, Public Relations and Protocols of the institution, John Amos Onimisi, the decision was reached during the institution’s Academic Board meeting.
The statement explained that the Polytechnic also approved the first semester examination results for the 2025/2026 academic session following a comprehensive verification exercise conducted by the Academic Board Central Results Verification Committee.
It noted that the committee carefully examined submissions from the various schools and departments to ensure accuracy, fairness and strict compliance with the institution’s academic regulations.
The affected students were drawn from both National Diploma, ND and Higher National Diploma, HND programmes across several departments, including Accountancy, Business Administration, Computer Science, Public Administration, Science Laboratory Technology, Mass Communication, Library and Information Science, as well as Office Technology and Management.
The statement added that the action of the Academic Board was aimed at sustaining quality education and promoting seriousness, discipline and improved academic commitment among students of the Polytechnic.
