The Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi,
Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed who said the University has trained health workers that would handle outbreak of Coronavirus, stressed that the institution has been working with the State Taskforce on COVID-19, to have both testing and isolation centres on campus that would addressed emergency cases.
Professor Bala Mohammed noted that the University Senate has resolved to implement the COVID-19 preventive measures, to ensure safety of staff, students and visitors to the institution.
“We have resolved at the Senate meeting that anyone coming into the University must wear mask. No facemask, no entry. And they also have to wash their hands, apply hand sanitizer and subject to temperature check at the school gate’.
Professor Bala Mohammed further explained that the University would ensure that everyone on campus strictly comply with the COVID-19 guidelines in their offices, lecture halls, hostels, and public places.
The Vice Chancellor therefore warned that there would be penalties against individuals who failed to adhere to the COVID-19 precautionary measures while on campus.
“If a student or visitor voilate the COVID-19 rules he or she will be warned. If it persists, then defaulters will be expelled from the University’.
While appealing to parents to support their children to resume Scholl as soon as possible, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, assured that the University prospective applicants for admission would be considered after the 2019/2020 academic session in August, two thousand twenty-one.
Some of the students in campus: Monday Peter and Priscilla Joshua, promised to comply with all the COVID-19 preventive measures, and appealed to Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to have students interests at heart.
