The All Progressives Congress in Lagos State has mourned the passage of an elder statesman and the first civilian governor of the State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande describing him as an administrator per excellence.
Alhaji Jakande, who died today at the age of 91, was the first civilian governor of Lagos State between 1979 and 1983.
In a statement, the State Publicity Secretary of the Party, Mr. Seye Oladejo said Alhaji Jakande’s passage at this time was a great loss not only to the progressive family but also the entire state and the nation in general.
Mr. Oladejo said Alhaji Jakande’s landmark achievements as an astute administrator in the governance of Lagos State in the areas of education, housing, health-care and social infrastructure remained enduring legacies in his memory.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive his short-comings, grant him eternal rest and the entire family, immediate and political, the fortitude to bear the great loss.
