Benue and Ebonyi States Resume Talks on Boundary Demarcation

The Benue and Ebonyi State Government’s have again expressed commitment to speady demarcation of the boundary between them to resolve the recurring clashes along the border communities.

This formed part of the resolutions reached at the joint meeting of official’s of the two States in Makurdi presided over by Mr.Magaji Duniya,representing the Surveyor General of the federation,Mr.Adamu Adaji.

In a communiqué jointly signed by the Deputy Governors of Benue and Ebonyi States and read by the Surveyor General,the meeting agreed that the inter-community committee on Agila/Ngbo and Ado/Ebonyi inter-Local Government joint peace be given up to the seventeenth of next month to submit it’s report on conclusion of it’s Assignment.

It also agreed that the technical committee saddled with the identification of the buffer Zone be allowed one month to complete it’s work.

According to the communiqué,the report of the technical committee that met in Abuja on the twenty first and twenty second of October twenty Nineteen should be accepted.

The surveyor General of the federation,Mr.Adamu Adaji called on the affected Local Government Areas to cooperate with the boundary commission for the commencement of the demarcation process.

Earlier,while addressing the meeting,the two Deputy Governors, Engineer Benson Abounu of Benue State and Dr.Kelechi Igwe of Ebonyi lamented that miscreants and unpatriotic persons were trying to jeopardize the peace process and sued for more commitment on the part of the affected communities.

The meeting was attended by traditional rulers,the clergy and security agencies.
