Benue INEC Receives Sensitive Materials

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Benue State has taken delivery of sensitive materials from the Makurdi branch of CBN for onward distribution to the twenty three Local Government Areas ahead of this Saturday elections.

Handing over the ballot papers and other sensitive items CBN branch Controller, Mr John Itaha said the apex bank has taken custody of the materials to ensure transparency in the distribution process.

INEC Resident Commissioner, Professor Samuel Egwu confirmed that the sensitive materials were intact, pointing out that officials of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW and NATO were already on the ground to assist in conveying them to the various Local Government headquarters.

Professor Egwu stated that INEC was ready for the polls as over five thousand BVAS have been distributed to the Local Government areas as well as over twenty thousand Ad-hoc staff trained to carry out the exercise.

APC State Organising Secretary, Mr James Ornguga and PDP State Chairman, Mr Isaac Mfo expressed satisfaction with the handling of the electoral materials by the CBN and INEC.

Officials of other political parties in the State including members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC and election observers also witnessed the handing-over ceremony.
