Borno Begins Contact Tracing

Borno state government says it has commenced contact tracing of 90 persons who came in contact with the index case of COVID-19.

This is sequel to confirmation of a fifty-six-year-old humanitarian worker by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC on Sunday who died of complications related to COVID-19. 

Borno state Deputy Governor and Chairman High Powered Response Team for the prevention and control of COVID-19 at a media briefing in Maiduguri said 35 people in Pulka and 64 in Maiduguri are being profiled. 

The Deputy Governor explained a surveillance team has been dispatched to Pulka, Gwoza local government for further investigation sample collection. 

According to him, the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre would be activated for prompt response. 

The Chairman of the team urged the public to strictly adhere to laid-down regulations and maintain high level of hygiene to prevent further spread of the virus.
