The Nigerian Army has restated its commitment towards tackling all forms of security threat across the country.
Chief of Army staff lieutenant general Tukur Yusuf Buratai made this known during the ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony for the construction of four special forces command of Nigerian Arny, Doma Barracks.in Nasarawa state.
Some of the major security challenges bedeviling the country include Boko haram insurgency, kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling among others.
Speaking at the event, chief of Army staff lieutenant general Tukur Yusuf Buratai said the core mandate of Nigerian Army is to protect the territorial integrity of the nation and to ensure peace and security among the diverse ethic nationalities.
The chief of army staff who spoke through the chief of policy and planing Nigerian army lieutenant general lamidi Adeosun commended president Muhammadu Buhari and the Nasarawa state government for their untiring support to the Nigerian Army and promised to replicate the gesture.
In a remark ,Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state said the construction of four special forces command of the Nigerian Army in Doma is a clear demonstration of collective commitment towards addressing security challenges not only in Nasarawa state but the entire north central zone of the country.
On his part, the commander special forces command major general Maude Ali Gadzama noted that the special forces command headquarters is first of its kind in Africa and is saddle with the responsibility of addressing all forms of security challenges across country.
Major general Gadzama explained that the choice of Nasarawa for the special forces command is key due to its centrality for quick response to the nooks and cranny of the country.
