Corps Members Embark On Sanitation Exercise

Members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC in Kwara State joined their counterparts nationwide to clean up the environment in commemoration of 2021 NYSC National Environmental Sanitation Exercise.

This is in line with the global recognition of environmental sanitation as one of the requirements for prevention of diseases and their escalation into epidemic proportion.

Flagging off the exercise at the Mandate Market, Ilorin West Local Government of Kwara State, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Francisca Olaleye, who represented the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, stressed the need to enlighten the public, especially rural dwellers on health risks of poor hygiene.

The Kwara State NYSC Coordinator, said during the nationwide medical outreach carried out by the scheme, most ailments diagnosed and treated were discovered to be as result of poor hygiene.

The Supervising Counsellor for Health, Ilorin West Local Government area of Kwara State, Hajiya Munirat Bello, said the Governor Abdurahman Abdulrazal led administration believes strongly in the promotion of healthy environment and would continue to support such initiatives.

She also appreciated the youth service scheme for its unrelenting efforts towards national development in many areas.

The theme for the 2021 NYSC National Environmental Exercise is: Clean Environment: Panacea for Good Health and Long Life
