Sixteen million naira has been approved by Governor Samuel Ortom for the equipping of the isolation centre at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi designated for the treatment of covid-19 in the state.
Governor Ortom gave the approval today while speaking with newsmen shortly after visiting the isolation centre in the hospital and the one at Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi.
He advised the people against seeking medical attention from non health personnel and to also disregard unconfirmed information on the social media about the spread of covid-19.
According to the Governor, all the people needed to do was to get the right information about the pandemic from medical experts who he noted were on ground for that assignment for better clarification.
Mr. Ortom expressed happiness that isolation centres visited were ready provide the services needed for testing and treatment of covid-19 in the event of reported case the same way other ailments such as lassa fever were being handled.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Director BSU Teaching Hospital, Professor Terlumun Swende advised people who have started experiencing fever with accompanying cough, sneezing and headache to report to the Hospital with immediate effect for attention.
On his part, the Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Dr. Peteru Inundu said the isolation centre in the hospital can accommodate over ninety patients and described the level of preparedness to handle the cases, if any, as top notch.#
