COVID-19: Governors Meet May 13 To Review Situation

The Governors of the 36 states will be holding their 8th teleconference meeting Wednesday, May 13, to review the situation of COVID-19 pandemics in the states and update on the lockdown.

In a statement by the Head of Media and Public Affairs of the Forum, Mr Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo explained that other issues to be discussed at the meeting will include an update from the Presidential Task Force, on COVID 19 and efforts of some governors to initiate a Volunteer Health Workers Support Scheme to contain the spread of the virus in the country.

Other agendas at the meeting are the distribution of palliatives, the controversy surrounding the NCDC Bill at the National Assembly, and the nation’s economic sustainability plan after Covid19.

The statement added that the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Mr Mele Kyari is also expected to join the meeting to discuss the Intervention and Coordination efforts of the NNPC since the outbreak of the pandemic.
