Kwara State Government has appealed for more support from the media on accurate dissemination of information about Corona Virus, COVID-19.

The State Deputy Governor and Chairman of Technical Committee on COVID-19, Mr Kayode Alabi, made the appeal in a meeting with General Managers of all radio stations in the state as part of the measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

Mr Alabi explained that ignorance about COVID-19 and its potential devastating effects could prove costly for the state, hence the need for media houses, especially radio stations, to ensure accurate dissemination of information and disallow misinformation that could trigger panic.

He maintained that with the current rate at which COVID-19 is spreading globally with no vaccine yet, the best bet is to continue aggressive awareness and education so that people can stick to precautionary measures.

The Deputy Governor, who affirmed that Kwara has no COVID-19 case yet, gave an assurance that the government of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq would continue to strive hard so that Corona Virus is not imported into the state.

Responding, the General Manager of Radio Nigeria Harmony FM, Idofian, Alhaji Abdulmualiy Olanrewaju Adegboyega commended the government for being proactive and pledged commitment to help in the fight against the disease.
