COVID-19: Kwara State Gov Targets Vulnerable For Palliative Measure

Kwara State Government says Palliative measure put in place by government to cushion the effect of lockdown on the citizens will be distributed by Religious and Traditional Leaders as well as Community Based Organization.

Chairman of steering committee on palliative under the main Technical Committee on Corona Virus, Dr Haliru Yahaya stated this at a press conference organized to signal the commencement of distribution of relief packages to residents.

Dr Yahaya explained that the committee would be targeting certain categories of people who are hardest hit by the stay-at-home order such as the aged, physically challenged, women, widows as well as Artisans who are dependent on daily earnings.

He said that each of the sixteen local government areas and one hundred and ninety three wards in the state are to set up an implementation committee to enable seamless distribution and maximum coverage of the targeted beneficiaries.

Dr Yahya appreciated the Federal Government and other donors who have supported the state in the fight against COVID-19 and charged other well meaning individuals to support the cause.

The Royal Father therefore called for continuous sensitization of the people on the danger of COVID-19 and to encourage everyone to stay at home and stay safe.
