Organized Labour in Nasarawa state has called on the state government to rescind its decision to commence 25 percent salary cut of local government workers in the state with effect from March this year.

Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress in the state, Comrade Yusuf Iya made the call at a news briefing in Lafia ,the Nasarawa State capital.

Comrade Yusuf Iya said the decision of the state government to cut down salaries of local government workers by 25 percent as a result of the Corona virus pandemic in the country was unacceptable.

According to Comrade Yusuf Iya, the action would inflict more pains on civil servants coupled with the economic shut down in the state due to COVID 19 pandemic.

Efforts to get comments from the state Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Mr Yusuf Turaki proved abortive.

The decision to cut salaries of local government workers in Nasarawa State was announced at the Joint Account Allocation Committee meeting early this week.
