By Sodiq Adebara/ Ilorin

An Islamic scholar, Dr Abubakar Aliagan says the ban against Congregational worship in religious houses to contain the spread of Corona Virus should also be extended to other public places where people meet and interact such as markets, malls, schools among others to fully combat the disease.

Dr Ali Agan Stated this in an interview with our correspondent Sodiq Adebara.

Dr Aliagan, who is an associate professor of Islamic studies with the University of Ilorin said although Islam gives directive to precautionary measures against wide spread of epidemics, the situation of Nigeria is not comparable with what is obtainable in countries like Saudi Arabia and Italy where Mosques and churches were closed down because of high spread of the disease.

He noted that it is quite unfortunate Nigerians emphasize on closure of mosques and churches as if coronavirus is synonymous to the places of worship whereas, observing that other places of public gathering are more vulnerable.

The Islamic scholar therefore, commended president Buhari for the preventive measures taken so far on the epidemics.
