Kwara State Government has inaugurated Technical Committee on Corona Virus, COVID-19 with a call on members to be diligent and selfless while carrying out the assignment.
The State Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi who also doubles as Chairman of the Technical Committee while addressing members explained that the task before the committee is to safeguard the health of Kwarans by controlling the spread of COVID-19 which is fast spreading a cross the globe like wildfire.
Mr Alabi also said the committee’s work is missionary-like which requires members’ passion and commitment and called for structured and concerted effort by all to avoid unnecessary tension among the people.
The Deputy Governor charged members to justify the confidence reposed in them by government stressing that skills, expertise and ability to serve are some of the criteria used in selecting members of the Technical Committee on COVID-19.
Also speaking, the Special Assistant to Governor of Kwara State on Health Matters and Secretary of Technical Committee on COVID-19, Professor Wale Sulyman explained that prevention of COVID-19 is one of the ways to mitigate the effect of the disease and called for aggressive education and awareness for the populace.
The Technical Committee was further broken down into Medical, Policy Enforcement, Border Security and Patrol and Public Education and Awareness subcommittees
Others are Grassroot Mobilization and Engagement, Political Awareness, Religion and Media subcommittees.
Members of the committee are to be meeting on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays at Ten O’clock in the morning.
