Former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida says the COVID19 pandemic should not be politicized, as such would weaken the severity of the disease and thus, undermines treatment.
In a message to mark Easter, General Babangida said this was not the time for “play game” but for a concerted effort by all to minimize the effects of the virus.
“It is time for synergy to flatten the curve, increase testing capacity and reduces pains and we have lessons and experiences of China, Taiwan, and other countries to benefit from. There is no room for blame game now.”
He commended “the professional display and wonderful roles of our frontline medical personnel for their patriotism, resilience, sacrifice and commitment to this fight of eradicating covid-19.”
“Although the numbers keep rising, the situation is still being kept at manageable levels within the limits of our health care system. However, these gains need to be sustained with the enforcement of appropriate and consistent social distancing prescription for effective prevention of the further spread of the pandemic.”
He enjoined Christian to pray for the country to overcome the pandemic just as he also urged Muslim to use the month preceding Ramadan to pray fervently for reprieve.
