EFCC Strengthens Synergy With the Police to Fight Corruption

The new Zonal Head of the Ilorin Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Usman Muktar has called for increased synergy between the EFCC and the Nigeria Police in the task of fighting corruption.

A statement by the EFCC Head of Media & Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren indicates that Muktar made the call during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Mohammad Bagega, at the Command Headquarters, Ilorin, Kwara State.

Muktar explained that the Police has been a pillar of support to EFCC since inception through strengthening the already established cordial relationship and would still need to assist in curbing the menace of corruption and other criminalities in the State.

The New Ilorin Zonal Head of EFCC noted that he had been briefed by past predecessor on the good relationship between the Commission and the Command, noting that he would want it to continue in that way.

While expressing the resolve of the Commission to collaborate with other sister agencies in strengthening the fight against corruption, the new Zonal Head described the role of the Police as critical to winning the anti-corruption war.

Responding, CP Bagega who welcomed his guest with warm delight said that the two paramilitary organization are a family, hence any support either operationally or intelligence to stamp out corruption in Nigeria would be granted.

The Commissioner of Police added that the secret of successes in Kwara State is the synergy and collaboration among law enforcement agencies including the EFCC.
