Election: Kogi SIEC To Partner Stakeholders

Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, SIEC, is to partner with relevant stakeholders in the conduct of a credible, free and fair Local Government election in the state.

State Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mamman Nda Eri stated this while speaking with Radio Nigeria correspondent in Lokoja on preparation towards conducting Council polls.

Mr Eri said the partnership which will involve security agencies, INEC, traditional rulers, political parties and Non governmental organizations became imperative in view of the need to carry stakeholders along in the scheme of things and to conduc transparent Local Government election in the State.

He said necessary arrangements have been put in place by the Commission through the setting up of relevant Committees to kick start the process as soon as the COVID- Nineteen pandemic subsides.

According to him, political parties have also been informed to come up with their letters of intent to participate in the election as well as the need for INEC to update the voters register to avoid disenfranchising eligible voters.

The SIEC Boss promised of impartiality on the part of the Commission towards conducting a credible local government election in Kogi State as soon as possible.
