FCCPC Collaborates With NERC To Enforce Billing Cap Order

The Federal Competition Regulation and Consumer Protection Commission says it is engaging the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission NERC to ensure a robust enforcement of the billing Cap Order recently signed into law.

Executive vice chairman and Chief executive officer of the commission, Mr Babatunde Irukera made this known in an interview with journalists in Abuja.

Mr Irukera said that the synergy with the electricity regulatory body would go a long way towards enhancing the level of compliance with the order and how to penalise defaulting distribution companies. .

He explained that a holistic approach is being worked out on ways to resolve complaints amicably between service providers and Consumers..

The Federal Competition Regulation and Consumer Protection Commission boss ,said they receive over one thousand complaints daily most of which borders on estimated and arbitrary billings by DISCOS across the country.

Babatunde Irukera, stressed the need for more sensitisation of people particularly those at the rural areas on how to get value for their money as well as how to make and resolve complaints. .
