Federal University of Lafia in Nasarawa State has beefed up security following invasion of a community within the neighborhood of the university by gunmen yet to be identified.
Head of Information and Public Relations to the university, Mr Ibrahim Abubakar stated this at a news briefing in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital.
He stated that during the the invasion by the gunmen,four persons who are not students of the university were abducted.
Mr. Ibrahim Abubakar while stating that calm had been restored to the area called on the university community to go about their academic activities without fear as adequate security measures had been taken to protect lives and property.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State Command, ASP Ramhan Nansel has confirmed the release of two persons who were abducted by the gunmen during the attack.
ASP Ramhan Nansel explained that the abductees who were trailed from Lafia town and kidnapped at Mararaban Akunza community close to the take-off site of the Federal University of Lafia were abandoned in a bush at Ome village in Obi Local Government Area of the state.
The police spokesperson however added that the victims had been taken to Police Clinic in Lafia for medical examination and had been re – united with their families.
