Federal University Lokoja To Commence Programmes In the Field of Health Sciences

The Federal University, Lokoja is to commence programmes in the field of health sciences in December.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi made this known at the News briefing as part of activities lined up for the fifth convocation ceremony of the institution in Lokoja.

Professor Akinwumi said to this end, the institution had appointed the former National president of the NMA, Professor Mike Ogirima as the provost of the health sciences.

He noted that the management of the university had equally met with JAMB to facilitate the intake of first set of medical students in December.

He further stated that the institution had engaged the services of qualified and professionals hunters in addition to some conventional security agencies to ensure that the entire university was secured at it’s permanent site, Felele, Lokoja.

The Vice Chancellor said the management had written to the Senate, TETFund and NNPC on the need to ensure that perimeter fencing was constructed to secure the land at the permanent site.

According to him, National Universities Commission and JAMB had approved the admission quota from one thousand five hundred to four thousand for the university.

Professor Olayemi Akinwumi also said that the university was working to improve water supply, power, furnitures, and a standard health services centre for improved service delivery.
