The President stated this while delivering an address at the inauguration of Mohammed Indimi Centre for Distance Learning and International Conference Centre at the University of Maiduguri.

Before inaugurating the ultra-modern complex, President Buhari commissioned Tijani Bolori Memorial School, Custom Flyover as well as a 10km dualised Maiduguri-Gamborun Ngala highway.

This is the second time in 6 months that President Muhammadu Buhari is visiting Maiduguri, Borno State capital to assess the security situation and inaugurate projects executed by the state government under Professor Babagana Zulum and a philanthropist Dr Mohammed Indimi.

President Buhari said he is aware of the successes recorded in the fight against insurgency in the northeast region and the drawbacks experienced in the northwestern part of the country.

On oil exploration in the north, President Buhari explained that more pipelines are being laid across the region to balance the politics of oil.

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum appreciated the President for approving the construction of a gas plant and expanding farming activities in the state.

He, therefore, requested the President to sustain the rebuilding of infrastructure destroyed by the lingering insurgency.

Elder statesman, Dr Mohammed Indimi who built and donated the e-learning centre said he is committed to changing the fortunes of education in the region despite not being opportune to attend formal education.

Vice-Chancellor University of Maiduguri Professor Aliyu Shugaba commended the President for approving over ₦2 billion for the fortification of perimeter fencing and security gadgets in the institution.
