FG – Review Law on Illegal Mining

The Federal Government says it is pushing for a review of a law to criminalize illegal mining in the country.

The Minister of state, Mines & steel development, Dr Okechukwu Samson Ogar disclosed this in an interview with RadioNigeria in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The Minister said Mining Industry would be open to those willing to operate and urged them to get a license and pay due royalty to the government.

Dr Samson Ogar stressed that government was formalizing illegal Miners by bringing them into Cooperatives so that they can come into real sector mining.]

He encouraged Nigerians to get into small, medium and large scale mining for the interest of the country adding that, government had approved a lot of licenses to encourage people to mine saying they had no any reason to go into illegal mining.
