Federal Government is set to empower thirteen thousand unemployed youths across the thirteen Local government areas of Nasarawa State as an efforts to reduce the rising number of unemployed youths in the country.
The State minister of labour and employment Festus Keyamo stated at the Inauguration of the extended special public works programme to Empower seven hundred and seventy four thousand across the nation.
The extended Special public works programme is an offshoot of the pilot special public works programme for rural areas approved by president muhammadu Buhari implemented by national Directorate of employment NDE in the early twenty-twenty.
The pilot programme was inaugurated in eight States of the federation to address rising number of unemployed youths across the Country.
Speaking at the event, the State minister of labour and employment Festus Keyamo represented by the Director human resources management national Board for technology incubation Abubakar Sadiq Nuhu said the programme is aimed at shielding the most Vunerable persons from the effects of covid nineteen pandemic that includes hunger, poverty and joblessness.
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for taking youths Empower with vigour and seriousness.
While Calling on the participants to Use the Opportunity availed them by the federal government to become self employed, Governor Sule noted that the Programme is intended to improve the quality of lives of citizens through meaningful Ventures.
The State governor pointed out that since inception his administration has continue to Accord priority to youths and women empowerment to make them to become self reliant.
On his part, the State Chairman of the programme Kasim Muhammed Kasim said One thousand youths from each of the thirteen Local government areas of the State will be given twenty thousand Naira each.
Mr Kasim advise the participants to put particular attention to enable them to enhance thier livilihood.
