Fire Razes Another Kano Market

Fire has destroyed properties worth millions, at some improvised shops and the upper building of old Savannah Bank at Singer market, the Kano State Fire Service, has said.

In a statement on Monday, the Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, said the agency received a distress call at 02: 18a.m, from one Sai’du Hamza that there was fire outbreak at Singer market, Fagge Local government area.

Saminu pointed out that, on receiving the information, personnel and fire fighting vehicles were deployed immediately to the scene of the incident.

He said several temporary shops were completely razed by the fire, adding that the service was yet to ascertain the cause and total number of shops affected.

On March 1, the popular market Kurmi in Kano was also gutted by fire, which led to the destruction of about 80 shops and properties worth millions of naira.

Similarly fire on Wednesday March 8, destroyed 19 shops and a mosque at the Rimi Market in Kano Municipal Local Government Area.
