Kogi State Government has expressed readiness to partner the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development to establish a Gold mining processing plant in the State.
Governor Yahaya Bello stated this at a one-day interactive session for stakeholders in the mining sector from the North Central Zone in Lokoja.
Represented by his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja, Governor Bello said if the project become operational it would boost economy and create jobs to the teeming unemployed youths in the State.
He promised that government will provide an in enabling environment for the take off of the plant with adequate security for the equipment and personnel to be deployed for the project.
Earlier, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Mrs Akinlade Oluwatoyin said the selection of Mopa community in Muro Local Government Area of Kogi State for the extraction and processing of Gold in the area.
Mrs Oluwatoyin explained that the project is planned to be completes and inaugurate by June this year twenty twenty one, also the project would attracts investors home and abroad to invest on solid mineral activities.
she called on state government to support the project and encourage miners in the state to register their clusters with the Ministry in order to have less problem from their host community.
The Kogi State Commissioner of Mines and Solid Minerals represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Daniel Alonge promised to support Federal Ministry Mine and Steel Development to achieve the set objectives.
