Governor Samuel Ortom today presented the twenty twenty two budget estimates of one hundred and fifty five point six billion naira to the Benue state House of Assembly.
A breakdown of the budget estimates crestened Budget of Economic Advancement and growth shows that fifty six point eight billion naira is for Capital expenditure while ninety eight point eight billion went to Recurrent expenditure.
Mr Ortom explained that some key assumptions of the budget include fifty seven dollar to a barrel and oil production output of one point eight million barrel per day.
Reviewing the performance of this year’s budget earlier,the Governor said Recurrent expenditure as at second quota preformed forty six percent while the capital expenditure achieved seven percent and attributed the low performance to low oil price as well as challenges occasioned by insecurity and covid no nineteen.
The Governor who stated that the budget seek to complete ongoing projects, appealed to the lawmakers to pass the budget in a record time.
In his remarks the speaker Mr Titus Uba applauded the Governor for presenting the budget early and enjoined MDA’s to cooperate with the various House committees to ensure timely passage.
The next year’s budget is higher than this year by twenty one point six billion naira.
In another development the Member representing Otukpo/Akpa state constituency Mr Baba Ode defected to the people’s Democratic party sighting irregularities in the just concluded APC state Congress as his reason.
